Meet the owner, Erica
With years of experience in animal care and dog behavior under my belt, I started K9 Playland Resort in summer 2009. After working in other kennels and animal hospitals — and seeing the types of boarding they offered — I knew I wanted to create a different kind of experience for the pooches of Charlotte.
My ultimate goal: to cultivate a sense of community and give pet parents peace of mind while they’re away. Whether we’re minding their furry family members during vacations, business trips or long work days, they can breathe easier knowing their doggos are enjoying oodles of fun, exercise and belly rubs in an enriching environment.
If you visited us in our early days, you probably met our red doxen Zoe in her office chair (she took her job as official seat-warmer very seriously). Our pug Alvin was also a crowd favorite but loved playing with his doggy friends too much to stay in the office! About five years ago, I also ventured into another passion: American Kennel Club (AKC) dog competitions. Along with my husband, I’ve emBARKed on some amazing adventures with our Beaucerons, who have garnered multiple prestigious titles in the AKC world.
Now, I’m lucky to work alongside a team of paw-sionnate, reliable professionals who pride themselves on their pet care superpowers. We can’t wait to meet you and your furry BFFs!
